Job Summary

This position serves as a Nutritionist for the Jicarilla Service Unit in Dulce, NM. This position is responsible for providing Medial Nutrition Therapy (MNT), diabetes education, and case management services to the community of Jicarilla Apache Nation and surrounding areas. The incumbent will report to the Director of Public Health Nursing. A REAL ID will be required beginning May 7, 2025, in accordance with 6 C.F.R. 37.5 (2021).

Major Duties

Performs assessments of nutritional needs and food patterns Provides culturally sensitive nutrition counseling and education to individuals, families and groups in nutrition principles, medical nutrition therapy plans, food selection, physical, medical, cultural background and lifestyle. Develop service unit guidelines, policies and procedures, review or program plans and review contacts for nutrition services. Coordinates and interprets community needs to members of the staff and applies the results in planning and developing a Nutrition Program. Requirements: This is a designated position covered by Public Law 101-630, requiring contact or control over Indian children. Due to this requirement, the agency must ensure that persons hired for these positions have not been found guilty of or pleaded nolo contendere or guilty to certain crimes.

Education
