The Veterans Affairs Oklahoma City Health Care System is seeking a Outpatient Staff Registered Nurse in Ambulatory Care for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care. Assume responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care.
Provides organized, safe, and patient-centered care, ensuring assignments are managed effectively and concerns or issues are promptly addressed. Evaluates the care delivered and actively seeks opportunities for improvement. Demonstrates understanding and compliance with all patient safety requirements, accrediting body standards, VHA Directives, and Facility/Center Memorandums applicable to the clinical area and direct patient care.
Applies knowledge of facility performance metrics impacted by clinical care and integrates these metrics into daily practice. Actively participates in program-level quality improvement initiatives and uses relevant metrics to demonstrate improvement in care delivery. Engages in customer service improvement processes and initiatives to enhance patient experience. Manages multiple competing priorities safely in a dynamic clinical environment.
Maintains clinical competencies in age-specific care, cultural assessment, and health education. Functions both autonomously and collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team. Ensures respect for cultural and spiritual values in all patient interactions. Documents patient care accurately, thoroughly, and in accordance with required standards and timelines.
Demonstrates effective communication skills and professional conduct that fosters cooperation and teamwork with internal and external customers, team members, and supervisors. Immediately notifies the Nurse Manager of any patient safety incidents, employee injuries, or concerns related to staff performance or adherence to Standards of Care.
Participates in staff meetings and program-specific education to maintain competency and awareness of changes in practice, policy, or procedure. Performs additional duties as assigned in support of unit, program, or organizational needs. Travels to the Lawton facility 50% of the time.
