This vacancy is for a GS-1801-13, PASSENGER VESSEL SAFETY PROGRAM SPECIALIST located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, D8 INSPECTIONS and INVESTIGATIONS BRANCH -DPI in NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana.
You will serve as a PASSENGER VESSEL SAFETY PROGRAM SPECIALIST and be responsible for coordinating the activities of the field units within their AOR to maintain and enhance an effective passenger vessel prevention, preparedness and response program.. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.
Typical work assignments include: Maintain an effective Passenger Vessel prevention, preparedness and response program Provide training and policy interpretation to the field and provide concerns to headquarters concerning implementation Promote and maintain effective standards for passenger and crew evacuation, life saving, fire prevention, vessel construction, inspection, crew training and qualifications and vessel movement control Promote risk-based decision making within industry regarding company and vessel management, operations and maintenance Periodically exercise the contingency and emergency response strategies with the local response community and all stakeholders Reasonable Accommodation (RA) Requests: If you believe you have a disability (i.e., physical or mental), covered by the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 as amended that would interfere with completing the USA Hire Competency Based Assessments, you will be granted the opportunity to request a RA in your online application.
