The incumbent serves as an advanced trainee. Work assignments are selected to provide training in the analytic and judgmental aspects of the work and in the appropriate use of proper methods and techniques. This position starts at a salary of $57,736.00 (GS-07, Step 1) to $91,815.00 (GS-09, Step 10) with promotion potential to $133,142 (GS-12 Step 10). The Major Duties for this position are listed below but not limited to: Reviewing, evaluating, and adjudicating submitted investigation packages to ensure compliance and adequacy of the package.
Reviewing completed investigations for compliance and adequacy, requesting investigations from other federal entities, and creating and/or documenting all actions within designated systems of records. Reviewing submitted documentation, reports of investigation, investigative materials and database checks. Utilizing a variety of personnel security related information technology systems.

Successful completion of one year of full-time graduate education from an accredited college or university may substitute for the experience required at this level. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for that grade level. Education Substitution for GS-09: Education Substitution: Successfull completion of two or more years of full-time graduate education or a Master's (or higher) degree from an accredited college or university or an LL.B. or J.D that demonstrates the skills necessary to do the work.
