The Pest Controller is the Medical Center's licensed (state certified) and technical expert and is responsible for adherence to state and federal environmental guidelines for pesticide applications. The Pest Controller oversees the implementation and maintenance of Medical Facilities Integrated Pest Management Program (IPM) and directs all the pesticide applications performed at the Atlanta VA Medical Center Health Care System.
Major duties include, but are not limited to: Responsible for the overall Integrated Pest Management program at the Atlanta VA Medical Center, Ft. McPherson VA Campus, and Atlanta Veteran Clinic. Provides general monitoring of procedures and techniques applied by the Pest Control Workers. Responsible for the safekeeping of all materials, supplies, and/or equipment related to Pest Control.
Insures that Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) are maintained as required and also that all pesticide related materials are disposed of in an approved manner. Selects, mixes, and applies restricted and general use pesticides necessary for treatment. Completes required reports and necessary records to meet all regulatory agency requirements. Follows all Federal, State, Local and Medical Center directives that are pertinent to an effective Integrated Pest Management Program.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6:00am - 2:30pm. Must be able to work weekends and holidays. Work Schedule is subject to change based on agency need.
