The Facility Program Manager is responsible for leading pharmacy informatics, managing EHR and VistA systems, system access, formulary controls, reporting, automation interfaces, staff training, and software testing. Coordinates electronic prescriptions and liaison activities with IT, clinical staff, and external partners.
Duties include but are not limited to: Develops and manages technology-based solutions for safe, effective, and optimal medication use. Plans, implements, and manages specialized pharmacy service automated data processing (ADP) applications (e.g., prescription dispensing, inventory control, automated dispensing machines). Gathers, compiles, assesses, corrects, and reports pharmacy costs, workload, and patient care data.
Acts as liaison between Pharmacy Service, Clinical Applications Coordinators, and IT. Collaborates with IT staff and application coordinators to implement integrated packages and resolve conflicts. Provides expert training to pharmacy residents and staff on software applications and automation systems. Reviews pharmacy policy and procedures for accuracy with computerized systems. Coordinates and trains pharmacy staff on new applications.
Designs and implements quick orders, conversion charts, and automates special drug requests. Facilitates automation of pharmacy processes (IV piggybacks, admixtures, unit dose, outpatient prescriptions). Participates in pharmacy service information management decisions and policy design. Assists other departments with informatics-related policy recommendations. Provides Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee with cost and drug usage data.
