The Outpatient Pharmacy Technician will fill prescriptions, dispense/deliver medications using automated systems or provide technical customer service to Veterans related to prescription needs.

After a final check by a pharmacist, dispenses medication in a clinic, ambulatory care, dispensing window, discharge situations or via mail. Assembles prescriptions with correct drug, strength, quantity, auxiliary labels, and prescription labels for window dispensing and mail delivery. Perform monthly inspections to assigned areas to ensure proper storage of medications and soon to expired drugs are removed.
Completes inspection reports in compliance with regulatory requirements. Provides pharmacy phone support with other departments and patients. When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).
