This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application.

Skilled in performing examinations and evaluations of individuals who have or may develop impairments, activity limitations, and participation restrictions related to conditions of the musculoskeletal neuromuscular, cardiovascular, pulmonary, and/or integumentary systems while considering the effects attributable to unique psychosocial and environmental factors.
Ability to interpret findings from examination and evaluation, select appropriate test and measures, and integrate findings into the physical therapy plan of care for the full range of patient populations. Ability to establish a diagnosis within the scope of physical therapy and identify the appropriate rehabilitation intervention, including referral to another provider for further consultation as clinically indicated.
Consultation with more experienced therapists for specific condition or treatment approached is expected and appropriate. Ability to determine physical therapy prognosis by incorporating examination findings with the patient's preferences for meaningful level of function in order to set clinically appropriate treatment goals, optimize outcomes and maximize functional independence.
Select appropriate equipment needed for treatment, to substitute for loss of function or to substitute for limited function of individuals where course of care requires adaptation or full restoration of function cannot be achieved. Recognizes adverse reaction to treatment and initiates effective action immediately. Ensures appropriate patient referrals and discharge planning in concert with the Physical Therapy and Medical Center staff.
2) Independently assess patient response to treatment, progresses towards goals, change in condition or patient self-directed goal needs in order to timely modifying and update plan of care as to meet standards of care. 3) Develops treatment programs for physical therapy assistants for appropriate patients and oversees their treatments. Participates as the PT representative on interdisciplinary teams.
4) Completes home evaluations as indicated for practice setting to maintain safety and independence in the home setting per department and Medical Center guidelines. 5) Works in general assignment areas of facility where physical therapy services are deemed necessary (inpatient acute, inpatient rehab, MH program(s), outpatient, embedding in primary care or ED clinic, etc).
6) Works within regulatory guidelines to facilitate coordination with approved vendors in attaining needed bracing and equipment to maximize functional outcomes.
