Job Summary

This is a Title 5 Excepted Service Position This National Guard position is for a PHYSICIAN (AEROSPACE MEDICINE), Position Description Number NGT6001000 and is part of the NJ 177th MEG GP, National Guard. Key Responsibilities

As a PHYSICIAN (AEROSPACE MEDICINE), GP-0602-14, you will perform the following duties and responsibilities: Serves as the locally recognized authority for administration of comprehensive clinical medical and physical assessments, and preventative medical services Provides inter-disciplinary medical advisory and consultative services Coordinates with inter-disciplinary teams to gather facts and uses effective analytical and evaluative methods to prepare complex healthcare recommendations Provides Aerospace Medicine support,Serves as the fulltime ANG medical expert on all aspects of the Aerospace Medicine Program Analyzes, evaluates, monitors, and reports on Individual Medical Readiness for ANG Wing, tenants, and geographically separated unit personnel.

Serves as expert medical advisor to other non-physician providers, nursing, and para-professional staff on the care of patients with urgent, emergent, and non-urgent medical. Provides expert managerial oversight and advice to the Commander as the Medical Review Officer for the Drug Demand Reduction Program including evaluation; verifying and approving, all MRO cases and serving as the liaison between the Wing Program Manager, Air Force, and the NGB.

Serves as the fulltime ANG medical expert on all aspects of the Aerospace Medicine Program; assisting the SGP with overall program management and implementation. Represents the ANG Wing Commander on ANG medical management issues with representatives of the NGB, the Office of the Adjutant General/Joint State Headquarters, and other military components.

Provides expert medical advice and guidance to bioenvironmental engineering military public health, physiologic training, human performance, flight safety, and others in support of the aerospace community. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements & Education

Basic Qualification Requirement: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association ; Association of American Medical Colleges ; Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S.

Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. .Degree from Foreign Medical School: A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must provide education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States.

Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination. You must provide transcripts or other documentation to support your Educational claims.

To receive credit for Education, you must provide documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position. Proof of license/registration MUST be submitted at time of application. Failure to submit proof of license/registration at the time of application WILL result in an ineligible rating.

For all grade levels and positions, applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
