Urology Physician Assistant provides patient care and administrative support in surgical Urology section. Provides direct patient care and completes administrative issues. Provides recommendations and medical support to primary care clinics, inpatient wards, CLC, outlying clinics and emergency department.
This vacancy will be filled with either a Physician Assistant or a Nurse Practitioner. Duties are and not limited to: The Urology Physician Assistant (PA) works closely with attending urologists to provide comprehensive urologic care in the urology clinic, hospital, and emergency department.
Care includes but is not limited to evaluating and diagnosing urological conditions, prescribing medications, offering patient education, assisting in procedures, managing perioperative patients, and coordinating care. Perioperative care for surgical patients includes but is not limited to surgery scheduling, initiating/receiving consults, interpreting lab results and imaging studies; patient admissions/discharges/dispositions, ward care orders, and rounding.
Provide on-call urology coverage with oversight from attending Urologists to respond to calls and consults from primary care clinics, inpatient wards, CLC, and emergency department. Functions include addressing secure messages and alerts, placing VA and community care consults, reviewing records, and managing acute patient care issues.
Urologic procedures include but are not limited to placing and managing simple/complex urethral and suprapubic catheters, instilling intravesical chemotherapy/immunotherapy, evacuating intravesical blood clots, performing intracavernosal therapies and posterior tibial nerve stimulation treatments.
