Job Summary

This position is with the U. S. Department of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), in the Directorate of Technical Support and Management (DTSEM) within the Office of Occupational Medicine and Nursing (OOMN), located in Washington, DC or Sandy, UT. This position is at the full performance level. This position is inside the bargaining unit. This position is NOT remote. Selectee will be expected to report to the office listed above.

Key Responsibilities

Duties for the Physician include, but are not limited to, the following: Reviewing individual results and rendering qualification determinations (e.g. fitness for duty as a compliance officer). Applying epidemiologic principles, clinical and toxicologic information, and information and data management expertise to questions affecting worker safety and health.

Providing assistance in the development, review and analysis of policies, guidelines, compliance procedures, and other documents requiring medical expertise. Representing the agency at hearings and other legal proceedings that may require medical expertise concerning occupationally related illnesses and injuries. Developing informal or formal written responses to field consult requests for support, and documenting opinions using medical and scientific knowledge.

Preparing and delivering testimony in support of OSHA enforcement actions before Administrative Law Judges of the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Review Commission as needed.

Requirements & Education

Any applicant falsely claiming an academic degree from an accredited school will be subject to actions ranging from disqualification from federal employment to removal from federal service. If your education was completed at a foreign college or university, you must show comparability to education received in accredited educational institutions in the United States and comparability to applicable minimum course work requirements for this position.
