This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You will be assigned to a Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) and may be asked to cover the Inpatient Residential Rehab Treatment Program (RRTP), Urgent Care, or Home-Based Primary Care (HBPC) during staffing shortages. Provide medical care in an outpatient setting following PACT Principles. Provide comprehensive patient-centered primary medical care. Identify acute, subacute, and chronic health problems. Use principles of risk management to identify system issues which impact patient care. Order and evaluate appropriate diagnostic tests. Adhere to up-to-date clinical practice guidelines for patient chronic diseases.
Assures clinical care provided meets all timelines and required documentation as required by VA Reviews alerts daily and have no more than 100 alerts at any given time. Completes encounter notes within 48 hours Serve as Medical Officer of the Day (MOD) 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm at the Coatesville VAMC once or twice each month. May be required to provide coverage at the West Norriton and Delaware County CBOCs during staffing shortages.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. May include extended hours or an occasional evening and/or Saturday based on patient needs. Due to the nature of work, the incumbent may occasionally be required to stay later than 4:30 pm, as required.
Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from an institution whose accreditation was in place for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are: Schools of medicine accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) for the year in which the degree was granted.
Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA) for the year in which the degree was granted. For foreign medical graduates not covered in (1) or (2) above, confirmation must be made that the medical school meets (or met) Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) eligibility requirement for year graduated.
NOTE: The Under Secretary of Health or designee in the VHA Central Office may approve the appointment under authority of 38 U.S.C. 7405 of a physician graduate of a school of medicine not covered above if the candidate is to be assigned to a research, academic, or administrative position with no patient care responsibilities.
The appointment will be made only in exceptional circumstances where the candidate's credentials clearly demonstrate high professional attainment or expertise in the specialty area.
