This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application.

The ability to admit, evaluate, diagnose, and provide treatment in outpatient settings to individuals who suffer from mental, behavioral, or emotional disorders. This can also include but is not limited to the ability to: 1. Supervise multidisciplinary teams of allied health professionals (e.g., psychologists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, physician's assistants, and pharmacists) in the treatment of patients. 2.
Screen, diagnose and manage patients with psychiatric illnesses. 3. Provide evidence based counseling for individuals, groups, and families. 4. Screen, diagnose, and manage patients for mild/moderate addiction, intoxication, and withdrawal. 5. Provide brief intervention, addiction counseling, and medication management for patients with substance-related disorders. 6. Manage psychiatric complications of medical illnesses. 7.
Assess patients with dual diagnosis issues and be able to work in a coordinated and collaborative care manner if the patient needs to be referred for additional addiction specialty care. 8. Provide short- and long-term psychotherapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy, and the concurrent use of medications and psychotherapy. 9.
Clinical consultation from appropriate staff, if a diagnosis cannot be established after reasonable investigation, or it is uncertain of best course of action, or response to treatment is lacking in success or unacceptable. We provide comprehensive outpatient mental health care to veterans, addressing a wide range of conditions including (but not limited to) PTSD, mood and anxiety disorders, and substance use.
Our program features a walk-in urgent care clinic and access to diverse treatment programs, including on-site residential and inpatient units. As part of our team, you'll collaborate with skilled professionals and participate in clinical training for medical students, residents, and fellows. Faculty appointment with the Medical College of Wisconsin is available for qualified candidates.

Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from an institution whose accreditation was in place for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are: Schools of medicine accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) for the year in which the degree was granted.
Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA) for the year in which the degree was granted. For foreign medical graduates not covered in (1) or (2) above, confirmation must be made that the medical school meets (or met) Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) eligibility requirement for year graduated.
NOTE: The Under Secretary of Health or designee in the VHA Central Office may approve the appointment under authority of 38 U.S.C. 7405 of a physician graduate of a school of medicine not covered above if the candidate is to be assigned to a research, academic, or administrative position with no patient care responsibilities.
The appointment will be made only in exceptional circumstances where the candidate's credentials clearly demonstrate high professional attainment or expertise in the specialty area.
