Job Summary

This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Science and Technology. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Program Manager over a major programmatic area for which both the scope and effect of the work have agency-wide or government-wide impact. Incumbent directs programs that involve and support the mission of the agency; congressional interest; or have pervasive impact on the general public. Non-BU: This is a non-bargaining unit position.

Major Duties

As a Program Manager, GS-0340-15, your typical work assignments may include: Oversees the planning, execution and governance of programs and their related projects to meet the customers' needs and the successful delivery of the programs' output/product. Responsible for the successful initiation, planning, design, execution, monitoring, controlling and closure of a program or project. Initiates actions to resolve complex issues concerning adequacy of product outcomes, and other program requirements consulting with other subject matter experts on the related discipline. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with officials of customer organizations and with other officials within S&T and within and outside the Department to plan, coordinate and manage projects. Develops integrated strategic plans delineating contracting strategies, key risk areas, and metrics to measure costs, schedules, and performance. Monitors ongoing projects for compliance with milestones and, schedules, and for identification and resolution of problems or issues of negative impact on successful project completion.
