This Position is assigned to the Business Office Located in Grand Junction VAMC. The position processes enrollments and eligibility duties, performs functions of decedent affairs including the disposition of bodies, funds and effects, Contract Burials, and Indigent Program Budget.
The incumbent will also assist the with the management of scheduling of new Enrollees (NEAR List) and in management in the completion of various reports, suspense action items, and miscellaneous projects as assigned.
Duties may include but are not limited to: Processes applications from Veterans including verifying eligibility through various data bases, source documents including a DD214 to allow for enrollment in VA Care. Enters information into the Grand Junction database in accordance with VA directives including next of kin, insurance information and income information where required.
Searches VA databases including the Enrollment Database in Atlanta to validate information presented by the Veteran for enrollment. Places the Veteran on the appointment list and follows up to ensure that the appointment is made to disposition the entry.
Performs all administrative tasks pertaining to, but not limited to, Disposition of Body (Deaths); Indigent Program and Budget; and speaking and/or corresponding with family/friends/stakeholders which can include funeral homes and state entities. Counseling veterans and their families; legal services; funds and effects, control point maintenance, and document storage: such as filing, scanning, or other methods.
Reviews and cancels necessary appointments and sends notifications to providers so consults can be reviewed and medication refills can be cancelled. Counsels patients, their families, funeral homes, and agency employees on entitlement to benefits. Referrals are made to the appropriate federal, state, and county resources as necessary.
