The Program Support Assistant serves as a data management coordinator for the Radiation Oncology Service (ROS) and Radiation Safety Program with responsibility for providing data management support for the Radiation Oncology Program at the Bay Pines VA Healthcare System.
The Program Support Assistant (PSA) will need to develop a data-driven goals and outcomes to evaluate and document the effectiveness of the many programs of Radiation Oncology. He/she will analyze program performance data to identify deficiencies and impact that are both qualitative and quantitative in nature, utilizing data sources such as VHA Support Service Center (VSSC), the Corporate Data Warehouse (CDW), File man, Strategic Analytics for Improvement and Learning (SAIL), VISN 8 Data Report Center (DRC), SHEP scores, Decision Support System (DSS), Allocation Resource Center (ARC) and ProClarity. Identifies data sources required to assist in the overall administrative decision- making, policy development and resource management of Radiation Oncology programs. Acts as a liaison and handles the communication with the persons and/or groups within and outside of the organization or office related to performance management. Undertakes special projects that have high priority for ROS program management such as planning, gathering, analyzing, and trending data regarding performance improvement initiatives, peer review data, action items, and facilitating appropriate coding and workload capture. Responsible for resolving CPT, IDC, and other data entry error messages found upon generating reports from VistA and Aria for accurate workload accountability and reporting. Works with the Business Office to ensure 3rd party billing and VERA dollars received are appropriate and accurate. Pulls data and provides an analysis when required by the Directors Office, for items such as patient's satisfaction, clinic workload, no-show reports and outcome measures. Will provide recommendations for improvement. Provides data management for the RTOG (Radiation Therapy Oncology Group) program at facility. The PSA will perform additional duties to help maximize utility of all staff members in the ROS and Bay Pines VAMC.
