This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (1-5 years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application.

The incumbent serves as the Chief of Psychology at the James J. Peters VA Medical center in the Bronx, NY. The position is located in the Mental Health Patient Care Center and reports directly to the Chief of Mental Health.
The psychologist in this position provides program oversight and coordination of all psychology related programming throughout the medical center including the comprehensive development, planning, and implementation of the program's policies and procedures, determining the needs to the program, overseeing and directing the quality and quantity of training, monitoring data driven outcomes, and establishing program initiatives and direction within the limitations of available staff and budget.
The incumbent is responsible for all aspects of psychology program management including, but not limited to adherence to VA, Joint Commission, and APA regulations. Additionally, the psychologist in this position is responsible for the Psychology Program to meet VA local, regional, and national performance measures including maintaining compliance with all applicable administrative and clinical policies, regulations, standards, and guidelines.
The incumbent is also tasked with serving as a member of the Mental Health leadership team and subject-matter expert advisor to the Chief of Mental Health. S/he is responsible for the supervision, coordination, and management of the work of professional and technical staff assigned to the Psychology Program.
The incumbent will also provide a full range of psychological services to Veteran Patients as well as provide consultation and guidance to colleagues regarding the most complex and challenging cases. The Chief of Psychology also has the responsibility of training and supervising psychology interns within the JJP VAMC's APA-Accredited Psychology Internship Program.
