Job Summary

This position is located in the Office of the Assistant to the Secretary of War for Public Affairs (OATSW(PA)). The ATSD(PA) is the principal advisor to the Secretary of War on Department of War (DoW) public affairs and internal information. The office establishes policies governing public release of news, community outreach programs that connect Americans to their military, internal news and entertainment programming for overseas personnel, and security measures to protect national security.

Major Duties

Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following: Develop and Integrate Strategic Communication Plans: Create, coordinate, and execute mid- to long-range communication plans and strategies that align organizational messaging with broad strategic priorities and national defense objectives. Engage and Collaborate with Key Stakeholders: Coordinate closely with high-level agency officials, military staffs, interagency partners, and allied organizations to ensure communication efforts are synchronized, de-conflicted, and amplified. Analyze the Information Environment: Monitor and evaluate public sentiment, media trends, social media atmospherics, and adversary propaganda to assess public attitudes and deliver actionable communication recommendations to senior leadership. Review Operational and Contingency Plans: Evaluate operational, contingency, and campaign plans from various commands to ensure public affairs equities, strategic messaging, and communication policies are fully integrated.
