This position is located in the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation's (PBGC), Office of Policy and External Affairs (OPEA), Communications, Outreach, and Legislative Affairs Department (COLAD).
Key Responsibilities
The candidate selected for this position will: Develop and implement public affairs campaigns, outreach materials, and digital communications that explain complex or sensitive agency programs and activities to internal and external audiences.
Lead the editing, formatting, and quality assurance of key agency reports submitted to Congress, including the Annual Performance and Financial Report and other assigned congressional reports, to ensure clear, accurate, consistent, and publication-ready materials.
Establish and maintain relationships with news media, government public affairs offices, professional associations, and constituency groups; respond to media inquiries, coordinate interviews, and advise leadership on sensitive communications issues.
Monitor assigned forms of media and identify coverage that could be useful or detrimental to PBGC; develop options and recommendations for appropriate agency action and keep management informed of controversial issues requiring attention.
