Duties and responsibilities of the Radiation Oncology RN include, but are not limited to: The Radiation Oncology RN will demonstrate competency and knowledge in the administration of immunotherapeutic agents as well as other non-oncology infusions. The Oncology RN follows established safety and infection control standards while adhering to local policies and procedures.
The Radiation Oncology RN assesses a patient's physical and emotional status as well as the patient's and family's knowledge of the disease and its management through the continuum of treatment. The Radiation Oncology RN will triage patient problems and assist in the evaluation of symptoms and initiate interventions in collaboration with Radiation Oncology or referring medical providers.
They verify and coordinate future treatment appointments in collaboration with the ordering provider and the patient. The Radiation Oncology RN understands current and changing needs in healthcare and advances in medical treatments. The Radiation Oncology RN participates in research activities and/or identifies research studies as applicable to clinical practice.
