Job Summary

The Records and Information Management Specialist (Records Officer) is the senior technical advisor responsible for formulating policy, performing strategic analysis and planning, conducting program outreach, coordinating and conducting training, developing metrics, and ensuring federally mandated information governance and accountability measures are in place. Provides ongoing general and/or program specific training to medical center staff related to records management.

Major Duties

Include but not limited to: Promotes and elevates records management practices to medical center staff. Provides ongoing general and/or program specific training to medical center staff related to records management. Conducts focused monitors and audits of records created and maintained by service lines. Identifies and reports problems and deficiencies of records management by each service line for corrective action. Coordinates records management functions with service line records liaisons and management. Ensure facility compliance with policy and other applicable federal laws and regulations for records management programs. Recommends at the facility and national level improvements in records management practices. Provides subject matter expertise regarding meta data attributes needed to describe records and document the preservation process. Utilizes project management knowledge and skills to assist service lines in completion of records retirement and records retrieval projects. Serves as the facility point of contact and advisor for the maintenance and/or disposition of documents not included in an approved program and acts as a facility point of contact for management of unscheduled records.
