About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Family Campground, Hanscom AFB, MA. This position is a flexible position, may work 0-40 hours per week based on mission/programming requirements. This position requires shift work to provide coverage on weekends, holidays, and special occasions. Candidate must be able to frequently lift and carry objects weighing 40 pounds and occasionally more.
The primary purpose of this position is to perform and/or assists other recreation assistants or specialist in the operation and maintenance of indoor and/or outdoor recreational facilities. Sets up recreation areas for scheduled activities; records attendance; takes reservations and payment for on base recreation facilities, campground sites, trips and tours and rental items; notifies participants of schedule changes; arranges for equipment or tools, charging them out to participants, and checking them for condition on their return; decorates community or neighborhood centers or recreation centers for special events, activities, or parties; strings tennis or volleyball nets; lines base lines and base paths; sets up batting cages; prepares seasonal rental equipment (bikes, tents, skis and all others as needed) for use, ensures all preseason inspections are completed, checks the established safety system of indoor and outdoor recreation facilities and areas, tools, and equipment; posts announcements of scheduled activities and answers inquiries about item, place, transportation, or other matters related to activities scheduled; takes inventory of authorized recreation supplies and equipment; and helps with group activities which require more than one staff monitor, performing specifically assigned tasks.
