Job Summary

The Non-Supervisory Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) in the Community Living Center supports the Nurse Manager (NM) in overseeing operations of a nursing unit/patient care area. Fosters team development, ensures compliance with standards of clinical practice, and serves as a key liaison between staff and leadership.

This role combines clinical competence with leadership responsibilities, providing opportunities to perform management skills and prepare for higher-level leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Major duties include but are not limited to: Provides ongoing feedback, mentors staff, oversees orientation, training and competency development. Escalates significant Human Resources concerns. Manages daily staffing, assignments, and schedule adjustments. Troubleshoots operational issues in real time. Provides frontline clinical leadership, monitors daily quality indicators, ensures documentation accuracy and care transitions.

Leads unit-level quality projects, tracks real-time safety concerns, reinforces adherence to policies. Acts as onsite leader during Nurse Manager absence. Ensures continuous support for staff. Communicate with ancillary services to resolve immediate issues affecting patient care and operations. Makes real-time decisions affecting workflow, patient assignments and ship operations; escalates complex decisions to nurse manager.

Models effective resource utilization through the delegation of cost-effective care delivery. Shares knowledge and learning opportunities that enhance current nursing practice for self and others. Promotes collaborative behavior and team efforts. Is confident of abilities, effectively initiates solutions and, is alert to new opportunities, techniques, and approaches.

Recognizes ethical issues related to professional nursing practice and models appropriate action by providing and directing others in the provision of care following established policies and ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses.
