The Miami VA Healthcare System's Nursing Service is seeking an experienced and dynamic Assistant Nurse Manager (Critical Care). The Critical Care Unit (PCU, MICU, ED, SICU) Supervisory Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) supports the Nurse Manager (NM) in overseeing operations of a nursing unit/patient care area. Fosters team development, ensures compliance with standards of clinical practice, and serves as a key liaison between staff and leadership. This role combines clinical proficiency with leadership responsibilities and is often considered part of the succession plan for future NM positions, providing opportunities to develop management skills and prepare for higher-level leadership. Covers as the Nursing Supervisor. Duties include but are not limited to: Provides coverage for other ANMs as needed. Responsible and accountable for the direction and oversight of specific orientation, training, development of staff, and evaluation of individual staff performance. Functions as a role model, educator, practitioner, and leader. Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team to remove barriers and implement new evidence-based cutting-edge programs/processes. Exercises the authority to direct work, assign duties, evaluate employee performance, recommend employee awards, approve or deny leave, recall employees to duty, propose discipline, and to adjust their grievances, or to effectively recommend such proposed discipline or grievance adjustments for employees under their direct supervision.
