This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) supports the Nurse Manager (NM) with supervisory duties and responsibility and accountability for the 24/7 operation of the perioperative department and has responsibility and accountability for the direction and supervision of specific orientation, training, development of staff, provides input into the evaluation of individual staff performance, and completes performance evaluations for Title 5 and Hybrid 38 staff with guidance from the Nurse Manager. Duties for this position include, but are not limited to: Leads the provision of nursing care to patients with complex care needs utilizing the nursing process in alignment with the ANA Standards of Nursing Practice. Applies clinical knowledge/judgment to lead staff involvement in planning, decision-making, and evaluating outcomes within the immediate practice setting. Effectively functions as a leader, with demonstrated outcomes, for the immediate practice setting. Applies patient, family, and caregiver knowledge, values, and beliefs into care delivery without judgement or discrimination. Serves as a resource for patients, caregivers, and staff to address and resolve ethical issues in the immediate practice setting. Leads the implementation of high reliability principles and I CARE values to increase consistency of care delivered and improve patient outcomes. Effectively sets group goals and keeps self and team informed of the latest trends and developments. Leads education initiatives to expand knowledge with improved outcomes in the immediate practice setting. Applies evidence-based practice/research resulting in improved outcomes in the immediate practice setting. Assesses the immediate practice setting to identify efficient, cost-effective care delivery. Leads initiatives for expanding best techniques to identify and apply patient preferences to shared care delivery decisions in the immediate practice settings.
