The Registered Nurse (Cardiology) is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care at the Veterans Health Care Center, Specialty Care Cardiology Outpatient Clinic, Kernersville, NC. NOTE: The 2-page Resume requirement does not apply to this position.
The Registered Nurse (Cardiology) - Outpatient Specialty Care is responsible for providing competent, evidence-based specialty care to assigned patients and oversight of licensed vocational nurses/nursing assistants, as appropriate to the clinic setting. Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines.
Other duties/responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: Provides comprehensive nursing care in the Cardiology Clinic through utilization of the nursing process and adhere to established policies and procedures. Provides patient care, care coordination, health promotion, health education and coaching on wellness, disease prevention, and chronic care management.
Assists in directing the provision of nursing education, orientation, competencies and providing quality improvement and outcomes utilization. Maintains knowledge in nursing practice and professional issues; provides health education for patients/families; managing pain; documenting ongoing nursing assessments; documenting pertinent interactions and observations, changes in a patient's mental condition, and the patient's progress or lack of progress toward expected outcomes.
Provides professional assessment, coordination and planning of health care services; increases Veteran access to services/care, acts on behalf of the Veteran to assure that necessary clinical services are received. Demonstrates knowledge of appropriate specimen collection, laboratory results, critical values/parameters and follow up protocols in collaboration with providers.
Performs coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care Demonstrates knowledge and skill base of surgical management and/or monitoring of the various diagnoses and disease processes related to cardiology.
Leads the provision of nursing care to patients with complex care needs utilizing the nursing process in alignment with the ANA Standards of Nursing Practice Perform other related duties as listed in functional statement.
