Job Summary

The Nurse IV Chief of Quality & Patient Safety serves as a senior clinical leader responsible for driving system-wide quality, patient safety, and high-reliability initiatives. The role oversees performance improvement, ensures compliance with VHA and regulatory standards, and leads interdisciplinary efforts to strengthen safe evidence-based care. This position uses data to guide decision-making and directs organization-wide quality strategies that enhance Veteran outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

The Chief Registered Nurse executes leadership that is characterized by substantial and continuous responsibility and accountability for population groups or integrated programs that cross services and/or discipline lines and, influence the organizational healthcaremission.The Duties of the Nurse IV Quality and Patient Safety Chief includes but is not limited to the following: Functions as an advisor, administrator, educator, consultant, and mentor who possesses a wide range of experience and leadership ability.

Establishes and maintains effective relationships with all levels of Veterans Integrated Services Network (VISN) and medical center personnel and relates effectively with customers, families, and the community as well as program and service leadersat the local and network levels. Maintains these key relationships as they are vital in assisting the team to carry out functions and activities expected of them.

Contributes ideas and recommendations for the establishment of standards of care, policies, and objectives for the enhancement of quality management organization wide. Assists in policy making activities as related to customer service and the overall functioning of administrative and clinical programs. Provides senior leadership and oversight for daily clinical and administrative operations within the Qualify Management program.
