Job Summary

This Registered Nurse position is located in Nursing, Acute Care-Critical Care Department at the VA Connecticut Healthcare Systems, located at the West Haven, CT campus. This position is Intermittent.

Key Responsibilities

Nursing Service is recruiting for a Registered Nurse position in the Critical Care unit at the West Haven campus. The Registered Nurse uses the nursing process and evidence-based practice in collaboration with the patient health care team in developing and providing a patient-driven plan of care. The RN is responsible for collaborating with services internal and external to the VA to facilitate care to effectively meet the patients' needs.

The Registered Nurse provides patient and family health education with a focus on self-management, prevention and wellness based on patients goals.Duties include but are not limited to: Provides high intensity care and vigilance, while refining assessment skills Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guideline Contributes professional nursing perspective in discussion with the interdisciplinary team Fosters a safe and supportive environment Partners with the patient, family, and interdisciplinary team to promote effective and safe transitions across the health care continuum Provides direct care for acutely/critically ill patients who are at high risk for actual or potential life-threatening health problems Demonstrate leadership in delivering and improving holistic care through collaborative strategies VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total Rewards Pay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awards Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory Work Schedule: Intermittent.

24 hours per month. Days, Evenings, and Nights per the needs of the facility. Telework: Not Available Virtual: This is not a virtual position. Financial Disclosure Report: Not Required. Notifications: This position is an AFGE Bargaining Unit position. Current and former Federal employees must submit copies of their most recent SF-50 (Notice of Personnel Action).

The SF-50 must identify the position title, series, grade, step, tenure and type of service (Competitive or Excepted). In some cases, more than one SF-50 may be required to show a higher grade previously held. This position is in the Excepted Service. The salary is based on the grade and step approved for the selected candidate.

The Associate Degree Nursing (ADN), Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN), or Master of Science degree in Nursing (MSN) must be fully accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission On Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Verification of accreditation may be obtained from http://www.acenursing.us/accreditedprograms/programsearch.htm or https://directory.ccnecommunity.org/reports/accprog.asp.
