The Nurse Educator position falls under Nursing operations for Tennessee Valley and supports staff education and responds to assessed educational needs. Responsibilities include orientation of new nursing personnel, in-service education, continuing education, career development, coordinating nursing education.

Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates care based on age-specific components.
Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient transition through the continuum of care, patient and family education, patient self-management after discharge, and supporting factors that impact customer satisfaction. Considers all characteristics of the individual, including age and life stages, state of health, race and culture, values, and previous experiences. Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines.
Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team. Core elements of performance include knowledge and active participation in unit program level quality improvement processes and initiatives as well as customer service programs. The Practice and Development Specialist has the primary responsibility for: Serving as an expert in the interpretation of the nursing process.
Contributing to the development and practice of standards of care and practice. Leading on-boarding and orientation for nursing roles in the facility; providing and/or coordinate orientation of new nursing employees. Leading Nursing Service's competency program to include development of initial and annual job competencies and validation of clinical skills/competencies. Demonstrate leadership and guide others in the use of evidence-based practices.
Assessment of nursing practice and outcomes to aid in design of educational activities and performance improvement.
