Informaticist Registered Nurse manages and optimizes electronic health record, EHR-related hardware and software, ensuring effective integration with clinical workflows. This role collaborates across interdisciplinary teams, supports education and competency development, and advances quality improvement through core informatics functions including data, systems, and change management.

Duties of the Informaticist Registered Nurse include but not limited to: Leads assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of EHR-integrated hardware and software applications to improve clinical workflows. Applies core informatics functions including content management, application support, HIT system optimization, enterprise data management, and change management.
Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams and program/service leaders across the facility, network, and national VA staff to support informatics initiatives. Builds and maintains effective professional relationships to facilitate communication, problem-solving, and system enhancement. Provides education, orientation, and competency support for staff related to informatics systems, documentation practices, and workflow changes.
