Job Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application.

Key Responsibilities

This Registered Nurse-Lung Cancer Screening Clinical Coordinator position is located in the Specialty Service located at the Augusta, ME location. This position is full-time at 40 hours per week. Duties include but are not limited to: This Registered Nurse will be a point of contact for this centralized lung cancer screening program.

Responds to consults, confirms eligibility, and provides the patient with information regarding the screening program and counseling regarding possible findings and program requirements. Orders all screening CT Scans as requested by a consult from primary care or other providers; receives the radiologic reports, records the results in the database and reports to the multidisciplinary committee and primary care providers for further evaluation if needed.

Establish and manage a lung screening database (i.e. registry) ensuring appropriate follow up for all patients in screening program. Delivers fundamental knowledge-based care to assigned clients while developing technical skills. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care based on age-specific components. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care.

Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines. Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team. Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. EDRP Authorized: Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply for incentive.
