The VA New Jersey Health Care System is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse - Medical/Surgical/Telemetry to join our team. In this role, the Registered Nurse provides fundamental, knowledge-based care to assigned clients while developing clinical skills.
This position falls under the Acute Care Nursing Service and offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of Veterans by delivering high-quality, patient-centered care within a collaborative interdisciplinary environment.
Duties include but are not limited to: Maintains responsibility and accountability for individual nursing practice in accordance with established standards of care. Determines appropriate delegation of tasks consistent with the nurse's obligation to provide optimal patient care. Delegates elements of patient care to appropriate personnel based on assessed patient needs, condition, and safety. Formulates individualized plans of care based on comprehensive nursing assessments.
Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care based on age-specific components. Establishes a therapeutic relationship, allowing the patient to attain, maintain, or regain optimal function through assessment and treatment. Administers medications and procedures in accordance with established policies and guidelines. Coordinates care with a focus on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care.
Engages patients, families, and other caregivers to incorporate knowledge, values, and beliefs into care planning without judgment or discrimination. Influences patient care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team. Demonstrates awareness of high reliability principles to deliver consistent, high-quality care and improve patient outcomes. Applies foundational nursing principles and theory to patient care situations.
Demonstrates developing critical thinking skills with growing application in clinical decision-making. Seeks guidance and feedback from senior staff to improve the quality of care provided to patients and families Knowledgeable of ethical issues related to professional nursing practice and follows established policies of the practice setting, WA, and ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses.
Demonstrates awareness of high reliability principles to deliver consistent, high-quality care and improve patient outcomes. Participates in individual growth and professional development activities to advance nursing practice. Additional duties as assigned.
