Job Summary

The Registered Nurse - Medical-Telehealth Specialty Float is responsible for providing competent, evidence-based specialty care to assigned patients.

The person in this role will provide coverage within but not limited to: Endocrinology, Hematology/Oncology, Infusion, Neurology, Pulmonology, Transplant Coordination, Traveling Veteran Coordination, Women's Health, Referral Coordination, and may include coverage in Procedural Specialty Clinics such as Dermatology, Pain, and Podiatry.

Key Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical-Telehealth Specialty Float is responsible for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising patient care. The incumbent of this position assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care.

The RN - Medical-Telehealth Specialty Float is also responsible for the following duties: Administering medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines. Influencing care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team. Providing oversight of licensed vocational nurses/nursing assistants, as appropriate to the clinic setting.

Providing patient care, care coordination, health promotion, health education and coaching on wellness, disease prevention, and chronic care management. Assisting in directing the provision of nursing education, orientation, competencies and providing quality improvement and outcomes utilization. Providing peers with formal or informal constructive feedback for improvement.

Fostering a safe and supportive environment conducive to the professional development of health care professionals. Demonstrating leadership in delivering and improving holistic, specialty care through collaborative strategies with others. Demonstrating the ability to cope with and manage competing priorities. Other duties, as assigned.

The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), located at 3343 Peachtree Road NE, Suite 850, Atlanta, GA 30326.

The ACEN accredits all levels of nursing programs, including clinical doctorate, masters/post master's certificate, baccalaureate, associate and diploma nursing education programs. (Note: The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission/NLNAC changed its name to ACEN in May 2013.

ACEN's website may be utilized to verify accredited programs using automated inquiry processes; however, for verification of any nursing program's accreditation prior to 1998, an automated inquiry cannot be used and ACEN must be contacted directly via their email contact information on the ACEN website to verify.) The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), located at 655 K Street, NW, Suite 7, Washington, DC 20001.

The CCNE is an accrediting arm of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) and accredits nursing education programs at the bachelor and master's level.
