At St. Cloud, nurses help Veterans strengthen their health and well-being through compassionate care, thoughtful coordination, and continuous support. They guide each Veteran across the continuum of care, ensuring safety, connection, and meaningful progress rooted in dignity and respect. The Mental Health Residential Treatment Program (MHRRTP) Registered Nurse (RN) functions directly to support the activities of the St. Cloud VA Health Care System.
Major duties include, but are not limited to: Demonstrates the ability to provide nursing care based on utilization of the health history and physical assessment skills and provides assistance for less experienced staff. Demonstrates knowledge of Crisis Behavior Response Policy and Procedure. Appropriately completes Suicidal Assessment tool and provides assistance for less experienced staff.
Maintains PMDB techniques for restraint and seclusion and provides leadership for less experienced staff. Assessment of mental health behavior with appropriate interventions and provides assistance for less experienced staff. Must be proficient and demonstrate competency and the ability to either set up or reprocess Reusable Medical Equipment as applicable for all equipment for which you have been trained.
Utilizes appropriate resources and tools to document, track, and assure follow through on patients with high risk needs or care management coordination. Conducts a comprehensive assessment of the patient's health and psychosocial needs, including health literacy status and deficits, and develops a plan collaboratively with the patient and family or caregiver.
Facilitates communication and coordination between members of the health care team, involving the patient in the decision-making process in order to minimize fragmentation in services.
Educate the patient, the family or caregiver, and members of the health care delivery team about treatment options (including but not limited to CVT, HT, evidenced based protocols), community resources, psychosocial concerns, and case management, so that timely and informed decisions can be made.
