The New York Harbor VA Healthcare System seeks a Nurse Manager (RN) for Med-Surg/Oncology Chemotherapy units. The role involves clinical supervision, assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care. The Nurse Manager coordinates care emphasizing patient education, self-management, and satisfaction, and demonstrates strong judgment, interpersonal skills, and self-direction. Functions or Scope of Assigned Duties: Serve as the first-line supervisory authority, responsible and accountable for 24/7 unit operations and coverage of other NMs as needed. Direct and supervise staff orientation, training, development, and performance evaluation. Act as a role model, educator, practitioner, and supervisor, providing leadership to the team. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to remove barriers and implement evidence-based programs/processes. Engage in professional organizations to enhance leadership and career growth. Adhere to ethical principles in decision-making, fostering accountability at personal, organizational, and staff levels. Equip staff with tools for culturally competent care and promote a culture of accountability for high-quality, cost-effective outcomes. Cultivate alliances across the care continuum, building trust through active listening, engagement, and emotional intelligence. Contribute to the development of care delivery models and environmental design, ensuring evidence-based, accessible, affordable, and equitable patient care. Ensure compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards. Align nursing/clinical objectives with organizational strategic outcomes, participating in strategy planning and execution. Promote an inclusive workplace valuing diversity to achieve the organization's vision and mission. Maintain knowledge and ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards, directives, policies, and SOPs. Provide peers with informal constructive feedback for improvement. Support colleagues and other nurses through knowledge sharing to provide safe, quality nursing care. Foster a safe and supportive environment conducive to the professional development of healthcare professionals. Contribute a professional nursing perspective in discussions with the interdisciplinary team. Partner with others to effect change and produce optimal outcomes.
