Job Summary

Join VA Black Hills Health Care System as a Nurse Manager and lead a team dedicated to delivering high-quality, Veteran-centered care. In this frontline leadership role, you will guide nursing operations, develop and evaluate staff, strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration, advance evidence-based improvements, and help shape care delivery that supports safe, effective, equitable outcomes for Veterans while advancing the organization's mission and strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

As a Nurse Manager with VA Black Hills Health Care System, you will have the opportunity to influence both the patient experience and the professional growth of the nursing team. Serving as a frontline clinical leader, you will create an environment where nurses are supported, accountable, and equipped to provide exceptional care to Veterans.

You will partner with interdisciplinary colleagues to address barriers, strengthen care delivery, introduce evidence-based practices, and connect unit priorities with broader organizational goals. This role offers a meaningful opportunity to develop staff, shape nursing practice, foster teamwork, and contribute to improvements that enhance quality, efficiency, accessibility, and Veteran outcomes.

Duties include, but are not limited to: - Lead the daily operation of assigned nursing units, providing direction and supervision to support safe, effective, and Veteran-centered care. - Guide staff orientation, training, professional development, and performance evaluation to strengthen nursing practice and build a capable, engaged workforce.

- Serve as a clinical leader, educator, practitioner, and role model who promotes teamwork, accountability, professional growth, and excellence in nursing care. - Collaborate with interdisciplinary partners to identify and remove barriers to care and implement evidence-based programs and processes that improve Veteran outcomes. - Foster a culture of accountability and ethical decision-making while supporting high-quality, cost-effective care and responsible use of resources.

- Build strong partnerships across the continuum of care through active engagement, effective communication, trust, and collaborative problem-solving. - Contribute to the development of care delivery models and practice environments that promote accessible, affordable, equitable, and evidence-based care.

- Align nursing and clinical priorities with organizational strategy by participating in planning, improvement initiatives, and implementation of programs that advance the VA mission.

VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total Rewards Pay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awards Paid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm, hours may vary Telework: Ad hoc may be authorized.
