The Registered Nurse - Nurse Manager demonstrates sound decision-making and judgement and possess excellent interpersonal skills. Responsible and accountable for the direction and supervision specific orientation, training, development of staff, and evaluation of individual staff performance. Functions as a role model, educator, practitioner and supervisor providing leadership to the team.
The Acute Care Nurse Manager is the designated first-line supervisory authority and is responsible and accountable for the operation of their assigned units. Functions as a clinical expert and is responsible for all elements of the nursing process when providing direct patient care. They are self-directed and influence care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team.
Duties for this position include, but are not limited to: Executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience and creative approaches to management of complex patient care. Contributes professional nursing perspective in discussions with the interdisciplinary team. Collaborates with members of the team to remove barriers and implement new evidence-based cutting edge programs/processes.
Responsible for the documented outcomes at the program or service level. Evaluates outcomes of evidence-based decisions and practice changes for individuals, groups, and populations. Contributes to the development of care delivery models and accessible, affordable and equitable patient care. Aligns nursing and clinical objectives with organizational strategic outcomes. Participates in strategy planning and execution. Provides coverage for other Nurse Managers as needed.
