Job Summary

This Registered Nurse - Outpatient Float (Intermittent) position is located in Acute Care service at the Augusta, ME location. This position is intermittent with varying hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

Provide direct and indirect patient care, ensuring adherence to established nursing standards, policies, and procedures. Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments, identify patient needs, and develop individualized care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team, Veterans, and their families. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, monitor patient responses, and take appropriate action in accordance with VA guidelines.

Educate Veterans and their families on health conditions, medications, treatment plans, and self-care strategies to promote optimal health outcomes. Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough electronic health records (EHR) documentation. Utilize critical thinking skills to anticipate and respond to changes in patient conditions, initiating appropriate interventions and escalating concerns as necessary.

Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to ensure coordinated and holistic patient care. Adhere to all safety protocols and infection control practices. Serve as a patient advocate, ensuring ethical considerations and Veterans' rights are respected. Engage in continuous professional development and participate in quality improvement initiatives. Work Schedule: Intermittent, determined by your manager Virtual: This is not a virtual position.

Permanent Change of Station (PCS): Not Authorized Notifications: This position is an AFGE Bargaining Unit position. This position is in the Excepted Service Veterans' preference does not apply for internal or other current permanent Federal agency employees. Current and former Federal employees must submit copies of their most recent SF-50, (Notice of Personnel Action).

The SF-50 must identify the position title, series, grade, step, tenure and type of service (Competitive or Excepted). In some cases, more than one SF-50 may be required to show a higher grade previously held. Requirements & Education

The Associate Degree Nursing (ADN), Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN), or Master of Science degree in Nursing (MSN) must be fully accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission On Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
