Job Summary

Salem VA is currently recruiting for a Registered Nurse Patient Bed Flow Coordinator in the Nursing Operations. Serves as a Patient Bed Flow Coordinator, overseeing nursing care and managing admissions and transfers across VA and non-VA facilities. Covers Nurse on Duty duties in the NOD's absence. Provides age-specific care, patient education, and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to ensure quality outcomes and lead complex patient care.

Major Duties

Duties listed below but not limited to: Provides indirect and/or direct nursing care to patients with complex needs as related to transfers, admissions, telephone triage, and discharges Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to validate and/or collect initial patient information Facilitates the transfer process by working with the interdisciplinary team to establish appropriateness of admission and provider coverage based on review of medical information Uses established bed control monitor devices to assist in the assignment of patients to the appropriate unit Facilitates bed control by placing patients on the most appropriate unit Assures services interface within the VA and community programs to provide continuity of care to patients Participates in interdisciplinary care rounds and/or conferences to review treatment goals, optimize resource utilization, and recommends alternate levels of care when acute care is not required or recommended Demonstrates performance and leadership in delivering and improving holistic care through collaborative strategies with others Shares educational findings, experiences, and ideas with peers. Covers Nurse on Duty (NOD) duties in absence of the NOD VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total Rewards Pay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awards Paid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory Work Schedule: Monday-Friday; 7:30am -4:00pm; day shift Telework: Available, ADHOC, may be authorized.
