Job Summary

The Registered Nurse will manage the care of patients requiring cardiac monitoring and more frequent observation that can be provided in the acute care setting.

https://youtu.be/LM35k1p_3Tc?si=6wdZw0Lag331XBMR Duties JOA - Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Provide individualized, complex, patient care for critically ill patients, consistent with diagnoses, standards of scope of practice, which may include the following: Cardiac monitoring and EKG interpretation Hemodynamic monitoring Identify potential crisis situations and respond appropriately in emergent situations using standard ACLS guidelines. Initiate referrals and/or consultations as appropriate to achieve an interdisciplinary plan of care. Function independently when performing more complex treatments, procedures and advanced technologies specific to the scope of care in the Telemetry Unit. Perform procedures within his/her scope of practice and the unit based competencies. Promote and provide health care teaching to patients and significant others. Complete admission assessment on assigned patients within 24 hours of admission. Conduct reassessments every shift and PRN to determine rapidly changing conditions. Transcribe physician's orders per policy. Complete patient care plans according to policy. Document vital signs and assessments using CPRS/approved format. Document medications using BCMA (Bar Code Medication Administration). Plan for discharge/transfer including completion of discharge/transfer note. Function competently as a charge nurse making patient assignments and communicating shift report. Demonstrate the ability to manage the daily routine operations related to patient care (delegate, supervise, troubleshoot, and evaluate). Participate in clinical supervision of nursing staff, nursing students, and new hires through modeling and communication objectives and expected competencies of orientee's and students. The Telemetry Unit operates 24/7, 365 days a year, requiring consistent staffing coverage- including nights, weekends, and holidays. Must be capable of managing the care of telemetry patients and accountable for supporting scheduling needs to ensure safe and appropriate staffing levels. Perform other duties as assigned.
