The VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System (VASNHS) is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Clinical Research Nurse to support innovative clinical research initiatives that advance the health and well-being of our Nation's Veterans. The Clinical Research Nurse plays an essential role in the coordination, implementation, and management of clinical research studies while ensuring the highest standards of patient safety, regulatory compliance, and research integrity.
Duties to include but not limited to the following: Responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising research activities. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of education, self management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. Follows procedures per established policies and guidelines. Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team.
Core elements of performance include knowledge and active participation in the unit/program level quality improvement process and initiatives as well as customer service programs.
The Nurse Research Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for assessing individuals to determine their qualification for inclusion in research protocols, responsible for understanding the regulatory guidelines that guide the conduct of research, assessing and acting independently within scope in response to research related issues, communicating effectively with patients, their significant others, nursing staff, and other healthcare team members involved in research.
The nurse will be responsible for screening patients for inclusion in studies, documenting this assessment, providing information relevant to the study, and obtaining informed consent. The nurse will assist in directing the provision of research education and regulatory compliance assessment for each study and patient record, and they may also engage in quality improvement for study recruitment protocols.
The nurse may provide oversight of licensed practical nurses/nursing assistants as appropriate to the setting. Leads professional practice using the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation) to improve evidence-based and/or data-driven outcomes for an identified patient population and/or specialized areas within immediate practice setting.
: Communicates and collaborates as an effective leader of the interprofessional team, at the expert level, with improved evidence-based and/or data-driven outcomes for the immediate practice setting. Expands knowledge base and practice evaluation through mentoring, precepting, and/or teaching to improve outcomes in the immediate practice setting.
This position includes a level of physicality normally associated with duties performed by nurses such as direct patient care, and potentially long periods of walking, standing, sitting, moderate lifting, repeated bending, or kneeling. Examples may include but are not limited to.
