The VA Midwest Health Care Network advocates for a Whole Health System of care in each of the Medical Centers. The Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program (RRTP) Registered Nurse (RN) duties include, but are not limited to the following: Assessment of mental health behaviors with appropriate interventions as ordered by providers. Obtain baseline vital signs, weight, height, and complete documentation in computerized patient record system (CPRS). Complete the admissions and discharge process along side with the admissions team. Successfully utilizes the breathalyzer, knowledge of cleaning the device, and appropriately document findings in patient medical record per policy. Completes mandatory and annual competencies for equipment and procedures, adhere to unit-based protocols, maintain a current BLS certification, and work collaboratively with other disciplines in the Medical Center. Participates in in-services and performance improvement activities and customer services programs at unit and service line levels. Responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care based on age-specific components. Considers all characteristics of the individual, including age and life stages, state of health, race and culture, values, and previous experiences Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines. Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team. Exhibits core elements of performance to include knowledge of unit/program level quality improvement processes and initiatives as well as customer service programs. May be required to transport and care for patients off site of the main campus location. Preferred Experience: Mental Health Nursing experience preferred. Ability to apply clinical judgement and knowledge in planning, decision making and evaluating outcomes within the immediate practice setting. Ability to work well in a team setting and able to multi-task.
