Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) Quality Management Consultant/Risk Manager serves as a facility content expert and provide oversight of the VA Salt Lake City Health Care System (VASLCHCS) Risk Management Program throughout the facility and affiliated community-based outpatient clinics (CBOCs). The RN is the administrator and program manager, educator, and direct service provider for the Risk Management Program.

Duties of the position are, but not limited to: Facility content expert and provide oversight of Risk Management Program throughout the facility and affiliated CBOCs. Responsible for administration of the Integrated Risk Management Program.

Knowledgeable of current VA Guidelines, policies, Federal regulations, and laws. Ensure compliance with VHA and Network Directives, laws, and regulatory standards pertaining to the Integrated Risk Management Program; including laws and regulatory standards from the community outside of the purview of the Veterans Administration. Consultant to VASLCHCS employees on risk management related issues.

Provide comprehensive reporting and analysis of all programmatic outcomes and make recommendations to top management. Effective communication and collaboration with non-Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) facilities as well as VA health care professionals and administrators. Possess effective public speaking skills. Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing, with a wide variety of individuals and organizations.

Provides strong leadership, demonstrate expertise in administrative role and as a program manager, educator, and direct service provider. Responsibilities will be dictated by the needs of the program and may change as the program progresses. Develop program(s), provide oversight, and continuously improve initiatives. Communicate policies, goals, and complex data clearly and concisely in both written and verbal formats.

Ability to collaborate effectively and use group processes to identify, analyze, and resolve problems. Other duties as assigned.
