The Registered Nurse/Supervisory Assistant Nurse Manager (Community Care) supports the Nurse Manager (NM) in overseeing operations of Community Care. NOTE: The 2-page Resume requirement does not apply to this position.
The Community Care Supervisory Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) fosters team development to ensure compliance with standards of clinical practice and serves as a key liaison between staff and leadership. This role combines clinical expertise with leadership responsibilities and is often considered part of the succession plan for future NM positions, providing opportunities to develop management skills and prepare for higher-level leadership.
The ANM is responsible and accountable for the direction and oversight of orientation, training, development of staff, and evaluation of individual staff performance.
Other responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to the following: Exercises the authority, under the direction of the NM, to direct work, assign duties, evaluate employee performance, recommend employee awards, approve or deny leave, recall employees to duty, propose discipline, and to adjust their grievances, or to effectively recommend such proposed discipline or grievance adjustments for employees under their direct supervision.
Serves as hiring official during the recruitment process for employees under their direct supervision. Functions as a clinical expert and is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing or overseeing direct patient care. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates delivery of care based on age specific components.
Oversee work assignments and provides reports of contact or assisting with fact findings as needed to provide the NM with the information necessary to make recommendations for counseling and/or disciplinary actions. Drafts schedules and leave for final approval by the NM.
Applies clinical knowledge/judgment to lead staff involvement in planning, decision-making, and evaluating outcomes; provides feedback to the NM who ultimately ensures nursing personnel provide timely nursing care that complies with generally accepted standards of practice. Contributes to the development of care delivery models and environmental design, ensuring evidence-based, accessible, affordable, and equitable patient care.
Ensures compliance with unit metrics and regulatory standards. Demonstrates sound decision-making and judgment and possess excellent interpersonal skills. Self-directed and influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team and leading innovative process improvement initiatives. Maintains knowledge to ensure compliance with all regulatory accreditation standards, directives, policies, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
