Job Summary

The RNTTP Residency Program is a comprehensive 12-month program designed to assist the new RN in the transition to full practice as a competent RN. The RN Transition to Practice (RNTTP) Program Director is a registered professional nurse who provides formal/informal/virtual instruction for clinicians, support staff, patients and families, and the community.

Key Responsibilities

The RNTTP Program Director provides for full coordination of the Preceptor Program. Other duties may be assigned to the position as workload allows to include the following functions below; Facilitates the transition of the nurse resident from a novice nurse and/or advanced beginner to a competent professional.

Collaborates with multiple disciplines in the assessment, planning, organization, implementation and evaluation of an effective RNTTP Residency Program, including orientation, in-services, continuing education and competency assessment and validation.

It is a comprehensive developmental training program with didactic and clinical components designed to provide the new RN opportunities to perform the role, duties, and patient care activities and procedures that are performed by RNs.

Executes position responsibilities that demonstrate creative approaches to providing educational opportunities with consideration to safety, effectiveness and cost, when planning/delivering education and training programs for the post-graduate RN, preceptor, mentor, other RN TTP Residency Program support teams and clinical staff.

This position works directly with Chief Nurses, Nurse Managers, Nurse Clinicians, and preceptors to facilitate the learning of nurses enrolled in the RN TTP Residency Program. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) is required. Other duties may be assigned to the position as workload allows. Functions in a variety of teaching and/or consultation roles, which impact patient care and staff competence.
