Key Responsibilities

Serving as a Safety and Occupational Health Specialist GS-0018-12 makes you a valuable member of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) team and mission. This position is located in the Environmental & Safety Branch (ESB), Facilities Management Division (FMD) under the Mission and Readiness Support Directorate (MRSD) and located in Glynco, Georgia.

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a senior program manager in the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) program. The ESB formulates plans and policy for, directs, coordinates, implements and evaluates a complex bureau-wide Occupational Safety, Health and Environmental Program (OSHE).

The position serves as advisor and consultant to FLETC managers and provides policy, program management and technical support to establish and maintain safe and healthy workplaces that are free of known hazards and are conducive to quality training and facility management.

Typical duties include: Formulating plans (both short and long term) and policy for, developing, directing, coordinating, managing, and evaluating a large-scale, complex Occupational Health and Safety program.

Serving as an advisor and consultant to FLETC supervisors and is responsible for aspects of safety management that affect FLETC facilities and training activities Ensuring existing and new training requirements, policies, and procedures mandated by FLETC meet occupational health and safety requirements for federal employees and contractors Providing direction and expert technical advice in Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) for the Department of Homeland Security View common definitions of terms found in this announcement: Common Definitions.
