The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Technical Director, Office of Safety. This is accomplished through the development and implementation of technical risk management and system safety policy, standards, processes and infrastructure necessary for systems definition, development, production, support and disposal.
Serves as the authoritative expert and primary technical consultant for the Safety Directorate on matters dealing with System Safety and technical risk management for all product lines (i.e. aeronautical, command, control, communication and information, and armament systems, subsystems, support systems, facilities and industrial equipment, and equipment being developed, acquired and supported within AFMC). Provides AFMC system safety program and initiative oversight.
Advises program managers and chief engineers on hazard analyses, mishap trends, and risk assessments through participation in program system safety groups. Serves as an authoritative consultant or member on boards and/or panels charged with advising on system safety matters. Represents the Safety Directorate in a variety of installation, MAJCOM, US Air Force, DoD, Inter-agency, and industry forums.
