Joining Customs & Border Protection (CBP) will allow you to utilize your skills in the leadership, management, and oversight of safety professionals in their assigned regional area at U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) worksites throughout the United States and its territories. This position starts at a salary of $125,776.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to $163,514.00 (GS-14, Step 10). GS Salary: Visit this link to view the locality pay tables by geographic area.

Typical Work assignments include: Serving as a Branch Chief who leads, supervises, and manages a work group of safety professionals, responsible for effectively and efficiently leading the safety operations of a defined geographical or operational area throughout the United States and its territories.
Serving as primary conduit for communication between OSH leadership and the work group, communicating regularly with CBP leadership at the Field Office Director, Sector Chief, AMO Director, Laboratory Director, and headquarters staff levels communicating safety messaging.
Ensuring CBP safety goals and objectives are met by holding regular work group meetings, meeting deadlines, preparing work documents, and responding to internal and external communications; verbally, in writing, or through other electronic means. Supporting ORM and SMS in the field by facilitating, through work group and OSH staff, opportunities to improve activities in the operational environment to reduce injury rates, lower mishap experiences, reduce CBP costs.
Providing a full range of supervisory functions in partnership with OSH leadership, such as conducting work performance reviews and provides feedback to employees, coaching, mentoring, and developing the employees in the work group to perform at their optimal level, provides corrective counseling and delivers discipline when needed, and setting priorities and schedules for completion and assigns work to direct reports.
