WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY As a Senior Intelligence Research Specialist, you will: Serve as the Department's senior advisor on research security policy, providing authoritative guidance to HHS senior leadership on national security risks affecting the biomedical research enterprise. Develop and recommend strategies, policies, and courses of action to address emerging foreign influence, espionage, insider threats, and other complex research security challenges. Lead the development, implementation, and oversight of Department-wide research security policies and strategies by interpreting Executive Orders, legislation, National Security Council directives, Intelligence Community guidance, and other federal requirements to establish enterprise-wide standards, governance, and risk mitigation measures. Represent HHS in senior-level interagency forums and coordinates research security initiatives with the Intelligence Community, law enforcement, the National Security Council, the Departments of Defense and Homeland Security, and other Federal partners to advance national research security objectives and protect HHS interests. Provide expert analysis, strategic assessments, and executive briefings to the HHS Secretary, Deputy Secretary, Assistant Deputy Secretary for National Security, and other senior officials on sensitive research security issues, emerging threats, geopolitical developments, and policy implications that influence Departmental and national security decisions. Foster a Department-wide culture of research security and integrity by leading cross-functional governance boards, collaborating with HHS Operating and Staff Divisions, developing specialized training and outreach programs, and promoting secure research partnerships that balance scientific collaboration with national security requirements.
