This position is located in the DEA, Operational Support Division, Office of Forensic Science (SF) Field Laboratories. This position's primary purpose is to manage the life cycle of all evidence submitted to the laboratory including non-drug, drug, bulk, and non-diversion/diversion seizures.
As a your typical work assignments may include: Performing day-to-day administrative tasks; maintaining files and processing paperwork while monitoring all laboratory evidence inventory levels and movement using manual or computer automated systems and by running required quality control checks and performing identified follow-up activities. Compiling and preparing reports for laboratory management as needed concerning identified inconsistencies in the reports and suggesting the steps to be taken to correct the inconsistencies. Communicating evidence handling best practices for cataloging, maintaining, tracking, reporting and other administrative matters affecting the operational efficiency and effectiveness of the evidence program. Maintaining proficiency in understanding and application of DEA and Laboratory policies and procedures regarding evidence handling. Training non-laboratory personnel (DEA and non-DEA) on all aspects of evidence processing and procedures including submission protocols, evidence packaging, quality procedures and completion of documents.
